"Central European Management Journal"   is a scientific quarterly pertaining to management in public and private sector institutions which publishes research results and theoretical analyses and reviews.

Our goal is to facilitate a better understanding of the essence of management and research cooperation within the academic community and thus to have a positive influence on the world of management sciences.

CEMJ publishes articles related to the following fields: human resource management, theory of organization, strategic management, corporate order, managerial economy, accounting and finance. The articles may be theoretical or empirical in nature and may be based in a variety of disciplines, such as economy, psychology, sociology and law.

CEMJ  appears on the list of Polish and foreign scientific journals led by the Minister of Science and Higher Education for the parametric evaluation of the scientific units with the allocated number of points 100. CEMJ is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (Emerging Sources Citation Index).

Publication is free of charge. All articles published are open-access and are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license as currently displayed on here.

Manuscript checking is done using iThenticate which provides plagiarism prevention services to publishers around the world.

The editorial office of CEMJ accepts the papers written in English.

All submitted papers are reviewed by two anonymous reviewers (see below for the Reviewing Procedure).
Theoretical papers should present new research ideas and approaches in the field management sciences. Empirical papers should be firmly embedded in the theory and prepared with the utmost care in terms of methodology. All research methods – quantitative, qualitative and mixed – are allowed in the publication. We encourage to combine theoretical and empirical elements in the papers, assuming that such publications may be of the most informative value to the potential reader.

Ghostwriting and guest authorship are a sign of scientific misconduct – all by the editorial office identified cases will be reported.

In order to counteract ghostwriting and guest authorship the editorial office of "CEMJ":
- requires that the Authors of collective works disclose the contribution of the respective persons involved in the publication. The primary responsibility for the publication lies with the Author who submitted the paper;
- requires that the Authors provide information about the sources of funding of the publication, as well as about the contribution of scientific and research institutions, associations and other entities.

Preparation of the Text
The length of the paper should not exceed 22 pages; the minimum length is 11 pages of standard typescript (A4 size; font Times New Roman; size 12; line spacing 1.5, margins 2.5 cm). In case of a review the submitted material length should not exceed 6 pages. The texts should be submitted in Word format, charts - in Excel. Tables, figures and illustrations must be clearly described and included in separate files; their location should be indicated in the text. In case the text contains images, it is recommended to send in the originals.
The Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary authorizations for the publication of materials for which the copyright is held by a third party.
The materials that are submitted to the editorial office cannot be previously published elsewhere either in whole or in part and cannot be submitted for review to other journals or publishers.

To submit the paper Authors are asked to prepare in the separate documents:

- Main document without Authors information

- Title page

- Figures

- Tables

The main document should contain the following elements (in the given order):

5. Introduction, subsequent subheadings, conclusion(s).

The bibliography should only include items that are cited in the text. Each item in the bibliography should include the assigned DOI number (if it has one) (http://www.crossref.org/guestquery/). 

Authors are kindly asked to include in bibliographies publications from the past three years.
We encourage you to refer to the CEMJ database in order to demonstrate how your article fits into recent scientific discussions in the journal.

Referencing in the Text
• the work of one author: always specify the author's name and the publication date (no matter how many times the work is referred to); in case reference is made to more than one work of the author published in the same year, subsequent letters of the alphabet should be added after the year of publication (this rule also applies for the other, mentioned below, types of publications), e.g. (Kowalski, 2001); (Kowalski, 2001a); 
• the work of two authors: always specify the author's name and the publication date (no matter how many times the work is referred to); the names of the authors should always be put together using the conjunction "and", even in the case of foreign language publications, e.g. (Kowalski and Nowak, 2001); (Kowalski and Nowak, 2001a); 
• the work of 3-5 authors: the first time – the names of all the authors should be mentioned, separated by commas and using the conjunction "and" between the last two names; in case of subsequent referencing – the name of the first author should be mentioned and then the abbreviation "et al." can be used, e.g. the first time: (Kowalski, Nowak and Wiśniewski, 2001); (Kowalski, Nowak and Wiśniewski 2001a); and subsequently: (Kowalski et al., 2001); (Kowalski et al., 2001a); 
• the work of 6 or more authors: only the name of the first author should be mentioned (the first time as well as in subsequent referencing), the rest of the authors should be replaced with the abbreviation "et al."; in the bibliography the names of all the authors of the work should be listed, e.g. (Kowalski et al., 2001); (Kowalski et al., 2001a); 
• referencing several works simultaneously: the publications should be mentioned alphabetically (by surname of the first author); several works by the same author should be separated using a comma; the individual publications of various authors should be separated using a semicolon, e.g. (Kowalski, 2001; Nowak and Kowalski, 2002); (Kowalski, 2001, 2002a; Nowak and Kowalski, 2002); 
• referencing another author cited within the work: should be mentioned only in the text itself, in the bibliography only the read work should be listed; works should be separated using a semicolon, e.g. (Kowalski, 2001; in: Nowak 2002). 
Quotations in the text: always put in quotation marks and state the author/authors, the year of publication of the work and the page number. Quotations should look as follows: (author/authors, year of publication, page number), e.g. (Kowalski, 2000, p. 67) or (Kowalski and Nowak, 2001, p. 3), or (Kowalski, Nowak and Wiśniewski, 2001a, p. 3).

Corrections
In case any corrections or cuts of the text are necessary, it will be returned to the Author, who must make the required changes within the deadline indicated by the editorial office. The editorial office reserves the right to make minor cuts and linguistic corrections.

Reviewing Procedure
1. All submitted papers go through a pre-selection procedure conducted by Associated Editors. The papers that are selected as a result of the above procedure will be reviewed.
2. The selected papers are reviewed anonymously by two reviewers. The "JMBA.CE"  Editorial Board makes every effort to select the most competent and conscientious reviewers in the given field. 
In special – contentious or complex – cases the Editor-in-Chief  may decide to appoint an additional reviewer, and the final decision regarding publication is made based on the opinions of all the involved reviewers.
The reviewers receive anonymous versions of the papers.
3. The reviews are in written form. The article review sheet is available  here.
4. In the last issue of the given year the list of reviewers is published. The list of reviewers available here.

Duties of Reviewers

Promptness
A selected reviewer who feels unable to review the work or knows that its review within the deadline set by the editorial secretary will be impossible, should notify the editorial secretary.

Confidentiality
The papers received for review will be treated as confidential documents. They will not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editorial secretary.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the Author is unacceptable. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments

Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should attempt to identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the Authors. Any statement that an observation, source or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editorial secretary's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the paper under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained as a result of the review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider papers in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from relationships or connections with any of the Authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

 

Dla recenzentów

  • Artykuły naukowe, które zostały skierowane do recenzji oceniane są  przez dwóch Recenzentów (niezależnie) wyznaczonych przez redaktorów tematycznych. Redakcja dokłada wszelkich starań, aby Recenzenci powoływani byli spoza jednostki naukowej afiliowanej przez Autora publikacji.
  • Tożsamość Autorów nie jest ujawniana Recenzentom.
  • Tożsamość Recenzentów nie jest ujawniana Autorom.
  • Recenzja (pobierz formularz recenzji) zawiera m.in. jednoznaczny wniosek recenzenta dotyczący warunków dopuszczenia artykułu naukowego do publikacji lub jego odrzucenia.

W przypadkach dyskusyjnych (np. niezgodne bądź sprzeczne recenzje) o dopuszczeniu do druku decyduje Redakcja, która może także powołać dodatkowego Recenzenta.

OBOWIĄZKI RECENZENTÓW

Wkład w decyzje redakcyjne: Recenzje pomagają redaktorowi w podejmowaniu decyzji redakcyjnych, a także mogą pomóc autorom w ulepszeniu manuskryptu.

Terminowość: Każdy wybrany recenzent, który czuje się niewykwalifikowany do recenzowania badań opisanych w manuskrypcie lub wie, że jego terminowa recenzja będzie niemożliwa, powinien powiadomić o tym redaktora i wyłączyć się z procesu recenzowania.

Poufność: Wszystkie manuskrypty otrzymane do recenzji muszą być traktowane jako dokumenty poufne. Nie wolno ich pokazywać ani omawiać z innymi osobami, z wyjątkiem osób upoważnionych przez redaktora.

Standardy obiektywizmu: Recenzje powinny być przeprowadzane obiektywnie. Osobista krytyka autora jest niewłaściwa. Recenzenci powinni jasno wyrażać swoje poglądy, podając odpowiednie argumenty.

Podawanie źródeł: Recenzenci powinni zidentyfikować odpowiednie opublikowane prace, które nie zostały zacytowane przez autorów. Wszelkie istotne podobieństwa lub pokrywanie się analizowanego manuskryptu z innymi opublikowanymi pracami powinny zostać zgłoszone redaktorowi.

Ujawnienie i konflikt interesów: Uprzywilejowane informacje lub pomysły uzyskane w ramach recenzji muszą być traktowane jako poufne i nie mogą być wykorzystywane dla osobistych korzyści. Recenzenci nie powinni brać pod uwagę oceny manuskryptów, w przypadku których mają konflikt interesów wynikający z konkurencyjnych, opartych na współpracy lub innych relacji z którymkolwiek z autorów, firm lub instytucji zaangażowanych w pisanie artykułu.

"Central European Management Journal" is committed to upholding the ethical standards of scientific publications and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. All the articles submitted for publication in CEMJ are peer reviewed for authenticity, ethical issues and usefulness.

These statements below are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Duties of the Editorial Board

  • Publication decisions

The editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published.

The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

  • Fair play

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

  •  Disclosure and conflicts of interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

  •  Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

  •  Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

  •  Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

  •  Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

  •  Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

  • Data Access and Retention

Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

  •  Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

  •  Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

  •  Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

  •  Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

  • Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
