Purpose: The aim of the article is to present a problem of long hours in law fi rms from insiders’ perspective.

Methodology: Presented research was based on qualitative methodology. More than twenty unstructured interviews have been conducted with lawyers, the Harvard LLM graduates.

Findings: The research material shows that lawyers have no sense of agency to control their work time. All respondents reported that their work day was usually longer than standard eight hours. This element is perceived as a standard, inseparable part of work in a law fi rm. Long hours become an important element of lawyers professional identity. Despite the fact that long hours are perceived as disturbing respondents do not considers themselves in power to make a change.

Originality: Article presents a unique insiders’ perspective on the phenomenon under study. This approach, which is new in the literature, allowed us to identify the lack of the sense of agency as a crucial element of the problem of long hours in law firms.

Purpose: To explain the conventions and conditions for implementing internationalization of a university as a strategic course for its development, as well as to provide universal strategic scenarios for expansion of the university abroad as well as to outline the factors contributing to success.

Methodology: The paper while conceptual in nature, is based on the diagnosis and analysis of the market for university education in Poland. Studies of specialized literature highlighted the main phenomena conditioning performance and trends in higher education which constituted the general background for deliberations and detailed projections.

Conclusion: The author underscores strategic conditions and decision-making procedures for a University’s expansion into foreign markets of higher education. He emphasizes the major opportunities and risks associated with the university going international. The proposals are not only cognitive but also can be the basis for application in the realism of Polish universities.

Originality: The activities of foreign universities in the domestic higher education market is a fact which is existent in many countries. This paper proposes a general concept for the internationalization strategy of a University in conjunction with a scenario accompanied by a detailed analysis and decision-making procedure. In the literature, this aspect of development of the university has been expanded in accordance with the objectives
international marketing.

Purpose: The objective of this paper is to describe concepts and assumptions of predictive marketing analytics in reference to decision making. In particular, we highlight issues pertaining to the importance of data and the modern approach to data analysis and processing with the purpose of solving real marketing problems that companies encounter in business.

Methodology: In this paper authors provide two study cases showing how, and to what extent predictive marketing analytics work can be useful in practice e.g., investigation of the marketing environment. The two cases are based on organizations operating mainly on Web site domain. The fi rst part of this article, begins a discussion with the explanation of a general idea of predictive marketing analytics. The second part runs through opportunities
it creates for companies in the process of building strong competitive advantage in the market. The paper article ends with a brief comparison of predictive analytics versus traditional marketing-mix analysis.

Findings: Analytics play an extremely important role in the current process of business management based on planning, organizing, implementing and controlling marketing activities. Predictive analytics provides the actual and current picture of the external environment. They also explain what problems are faced with the company in business activities. Analytics tailor marketing solutions to the right time and place at minimum costs. In fact they control the effi ciency and simultaneously increases the effectiveness of the firm.

Practical implications: Based on the study cases comparing two enterprises carrying business activities in different areas, one can say that predictive analytics has far more been embraces extensively than classical marketing-mix analyses. The predictive approach yields greater speed of data collection and analysis, stronger predictive accuracy, better obtained competitor data, and more transparent models where one can understand the inner working of the model.

Originality: Authors describe the importance of analytics which enhance the decisions that the company makes as it executes strategies and plans, so that the company can be more effective and achieve better results. The key factor that enables to execute marketing strategies accurately and build competitive advantage in the future includes predictive modeling. The ability to predict probable futures allows us to shape the future, rather than
merely survive whatever it brings.

Purpose: In this article we focus on the issue of organizational control in its bureaucratic and cultural forms.

Methodology: This research uses exploratory case study analysis of Matsushita Konosuke’s management style of in the early years of the Panasonic Corporation.

Findings: First of all, we fi nd that despite the impressive body of knowledge accumulated over the years, some questions concerning the relationship between two modes of control and their changes over time still remain unanswered. As a result of case study analysis we put forward an original model illustrating the relationship between bureaucratic and cultural modes of control over stages of the organization life cycle.

Research implications and limitations: Implications of the study consist of prescriptions on how to successfully exert control by combining formal and informal measures. Main limitations of the study are related to its generalizability.

Originality: Originality of the study results both from putting forward a new theoretical models and using original historical case of Panasonic Corporation.

Cel: Celem artykułu jest zbadanie uwarunkowań wyboru określonej strategii negocjacyjnej w grach symulacyjnych i planszowych.

Metodologia: Jako metodę badawczą wybrano wywiad standaryzowany z odpowiedziami zapisywanymi przez samych respondentów. Ze względu na możliwość przeprowadzenia eksperymentu w warunkach kontrolowanych zdecydowano się na grupę badawczą składającą się ze studentów Wydziału Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego.

Wyniki: Badane osoby najczęściej wybierały strategię konfrontacyjną i w większości uzasadniały to postępowaniem drugiej strony. Część uczestników decydowała się dodatkowo uwzględnić takie czynniki jak wyznawane rzez siebie wartości czy też wyniki poprzednich gier. Mimo to prawie wszyscy uczestnicy deklarowali, że wykorzystane przez nich podeście do negocjacji było kooperacyjne i integratywne. Negocjatorzy często bowiem nie postrzegają negocjacji jako całościowego procesu, lecz interesuje ich jedynie własny rezultat, bez zwracania uwagi na łączną sumę wygranych. Ponadto negocjacje dystrybutywne czy też konfrontacyjne są na tyle silnie zakorzenione w świadomości uczestników, że możliwość odejścia od schematu wymaga znaczącej wiedzy teoretycznej i praktycznej na temat uwarunkowań rozwiązywania konfliktów.

Oryginalność: Artykuł jest unikalnym przykładem zastosowania gier planszowych do analizy uwarunkowań wyboru strategii w grach negocjacyjnych.

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to discuss with the notion of global warming with man, as the main culprit of this phenomenon. This claim has not been proven because among scholars dealing with this phenomenon there is no consensus.

Methodology: The primary research method used in this article is a critical analysis and evaluation of literature and newspaper reports on global warming. Guided by the principle of skepticism, requiring the careful treatment of all information and conclusions of the research.

Conclusions: Due to the interdisciplinary nature of research on global warming and also because of the difficulties in the application in this research the principles of intersubjectve communication and verifiability, any findings in this regard should be taken with caution.
